REGMEX Work Team
The people that make possible REGMEX operation
The Space Weatner National Laboratory (LANCE) is a project that brings together several entities and multiple participants from all over Mexico. LANCE has its main headquarters at the Institute of Geophysics (IGF), UNAM (Michoacan) and at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, UANL (Nuevo Leon).
In addition, the Network of Geomagnetic Stations of Mexico (REGMEX) is a LANCE's initiative of to provide, in near real-time, the regional geomagnetic indices K and ΔH. Besides to monitoring space weather in near real-time, these indices represent useful information for the protection of infrastructure, technology and services susceptible to the effects of geomagnetic storms. These data are used by the Mexican Space Weather Service (SCIESMEX) to protect Mexican population against the negative effects of space weather.
In order to achieve these objectives, REGMEX requires the collaboration of LANCE members, as well as additional partners who are essential for our tasks. We reserve this space to recognize the efforts of all the people whose work has made and continues to make the operation of REGMEX possible.

Geomagnetic Station of Coeneo
COE is located in the facilities of the MEXART
Observatory. Because of this, M.Sc. P. Villanueva and Eng.
E. Andrade are continuously monitoring the correct
operation of our geomagnetic station. However, in addition
to them, other people have played indispensable roles
during the development, installation and operation of COE:
Geomagnetic Station of Iturbide
ITU is located in the facilities of the Universitary
Astronomical Observatory, UANL. Due to this, Dr.
Esmeralda Romero reviews the correct functioning of our
geomagnetic station. However, the Observatory is located
several hours from the city of Monterrey. In most cases,
technical assistance is provided by another colleague:
Our Partners
Magnetic Service - Geophysics Institute, UNAM
The Magnetic
Service carries out multiple geophysical exploration
studies throughout Mexico. In particular, it is
responsible for operating the Teoloyucan Geomagnetic
Observatory, which has operated since 1914.
The Magnetic
Observatory of Teoloyucan is the core of the
Magnetic Service of the Geophysics Institute, UNAM. It
also represents the absolute reference parameter for
researches related to geomagnetic field and geophysical
explorations in Mexico, as well as other related
disciplines.
Our Magnetic Service colleagues are:
Institute of Geosciences, UNAM
Our partners at the Institute of Geosciences, UNAM, carry
out activities that address topics as diverse as
seismology, geomagnetism and paleomagnetism,
geoelectromagnetism, among many others. In particular,
they regularly carry out telluric, gravimetric and
magnetic explorations.
Due to this, they have contemplated the installation of
three geomagnetic stations in different regions of Mexico.
Because of this, LANCE and the Geosciences Center have
agreed to cooperate to generate a joint network to satisfy
mutual needs.
